“The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.”

        ~Jack London

The purpose of life isn’t simply to be happy. It’s to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make differences that you’ve lived and lived well.

I want to truly live more of my life – to experience it and enjoy it to the fullest, instead of settling for a mere existence.

One can’t be everything to everyone, but one can be everything to a few people. One has to decide who these people are in their lives and to treat them like royalty. And to give people we don’t know a fair chance. We meet no ordinary people. If you give them a chance, everyone has something amazing to offer.

Start practicing the golden rule: if you want love, give love. If you want friends, be friendly. It works. Always be kinder…you never know what someone is going through. Sometimes one has to be kind to others, not because they’re being nice, but because you are. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

And again, life always finds its balance.  Don’t expect to get back everything you give.  Don’t expect recognition for every effort you make.  And don’t expect your kindness to be instantly recognized or your love to be understood by everyone you encounter. People never do anything that is out of character. We should never force our expectations on people, other than the expectation that they will be exactly who they are. Always aim at complete sincerity of your thoughts, words and deeds.

Sometimes the greatest dreams that come true are the dreams you never even knew you had. There are no wrong turns in life, only paths you didn’t know you were meant to walk.  You never can be certain what’s around the corner.  It could be everything, or it could be nothing.  Everything one goes through grows them. Sometimes one may think that doing something is a total waste of time, and then it ends up being one of the best things they ever did. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and realize you’ve climbed to the peak of the most beautiful mountaintop.

Remember, it’s always better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of the one you don’t.  Happiness and success is all about spending your life in your own way.  Always be yourself and walk your own path.

And remember, everything in life is temporary.  So if things are good, enjoy them. They won’t last forever.  If things are bad, don’t worry because they won’t last forever either. The trick is to be grateful when your mood is high and graceful when it is low.

“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is THANK YOU, it’ll be enough.”

       ~Meister Eckhart

The year is coming to an end and I’ve this question on my mind…WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?

There are so many things and people I need to be thankful for.

My life isn’t perfect, but it does have perfect moments.

I have got plenty of reasons to look up at the sky and say “THANK YOU”.

I’m grateful for the people who have had the greatest positive effect on my life – the ones who truly made a difference – these are the people I enjoy, who love and appreciate me, and who encourage me to improve in healthy and exciting ways. They are the ones who make me feel more alive, and not only embrace who I am now, but also embrace and embody who I want to be, unconditionally.

Dependable, honest people who reflect the person I am, and the person I want to be. Friends I am proud to know, people I admire, who show me love and respect. People who reciprocate my kindness and commitment

They aren’t the ones that tried to give me all the answers or solve all my problems. They’re the ones who sat silently with me when i needed a moment to think, who lend me a shoulder when i needed to cry, and who tolerated not having all the answers, but stood beside me anyway.

They have helped me improve my being.

I am thankful for my parents who have always been my constant inspiration. They never put me down. Their love surpasses all logic. My parents have always believed in me…seeing past my imperfections. They have genuinely cared about me and supported me during my darkest days.

I am thankful for my godmother. She’s indeed a wonderful person, a strong loving woman I’ve always looked up to. Her words of encouragement and support are the foundation for which

I am grateful for my brothers who have been very loving and caring…taking care of me as if I were the youngest. The childhood moments that we’ve shared are the closest to my heart…they are fantastic and irreplaceable memories.

If it wasn’t for their love and care, I don’t know where I would be.

I’m grateful for the amazing life and I’m happy to be alive. I’m thankful for my strength and the joy of living.

I am thankful for times of success which will always be happy memories, for times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for God, for times of joy when the sun was shining, for times of sadness which drove me to God. Thankful for the countless blessings I have received throughout my life.

I am grateful for the challenges, frustrations, fun and triumphs that made me who I am today. Thank you God, I could never have made it all without you. Thank you for the simple yet fulfilling life…Thank you Lord Jesus…
